The latest addition to the DIABLO ROSSO™ family.
It is the pinnacle of road sport tires with excellent performance in the wet.
■The ultimate road-going sports tire
Excellent grip under braking, propulsion at deep lean angles, great traction when exiting corners.
The handlebar response to rider input is lightened, and feedback is rich and smooth during cornering.
Structure and contours (profiles) derived from WSBK.
Silica-rich multi-compound for both front and rear tires.
It performs best in street use, both on wet and dry surfaces.
■Machine-optimized structure
Rear sizes 190/55ZR17 and larger use WSBK-derived 3-strand LYOCELL™ wire.
Rear sizes below 190/50ZR17 and all fronts are made of rayon with high twist stiffness.
Targeted Effects
Optimized footprint shape at all lean angles provides excellent dynamic response to power unit output and quick handling.
■ Increased rubber volume
Reduce the number of ply code strikes to make room for the rubber portion.
EFFECT
Improved damping effect on rough asphalt, reduced road noise and improved riding feeling.
■Tread pattern design
The void/fill rate in the mid-lean area is a phenomenon.
Targeted Effects
Increased footprint area and optimized stress distribution for better mid-lean grip.
■ Profile
New front profile with more gentle shoulder curvature.
Targeted Effects
Creates a wider ground contact surface at full lean.
advantage
Linear and nimble handling in response to rider input, smoother feedback during cornering, improved riding control.
■Compounds
Cap & base Multi-compound layout
Targeted Effects
Quick warm-up with enhanced and superior thermal balance.
■FLASH™ Pattern
FLASH™ tread pattern design.
Targeted Effects
More water can be discharged with each additional speed, ensuring excellent stability in the wet.
■Full silica compound
Full silica front and rear compounds provide firm chemical grip in both dry and wet conditions.
BENEFIT
The best performance on both wet and dry road surfaces.
■Tailored specifications
In today's motorcycle scene, large displacement (>999cc) motorcycles set 200hp as the standard threshold, often reaching staggering power in excess of 215hp on some superbikes and hyper-naked machines.
It should include sporty crossovers that can supply 160hp in a 240kg machine over 140cm high, and supersport and naked bikes of 600cc with less than half the power output, weighing about the same as the larger displacement bikes.
The DIABLO ROSSO™ IV sets the standard in the supersport segment for all these classes of motorcycles.
For this reason, Pirelli has decided to differentiate the product characteristics of the rear tire based on size, i.e. type of motorcycle, in order to fully meet the requirements of each rider.
■Internal Structure
Front Tire
DIABLO ROSSO™ IV increases the stiffness of certain rayon cords, allowing for lower end counts due to larger sections of more twisted strands, making them compliant with contours and varying the lean angle of the carcass stiffness with lean angle to support the dynamic needs of an exceptional riding experience. It supports the dynamic needs of an exceptional riding experience.
These characteristics, together with the firm stability, give the rider a great grounding feeling.
Rear tires up to 190/50 ZR17
DIABLO ROSSO™ IV rear tires in sizes up to 190/50ZR 17 feature rayon 2-wire strand construction.
According to the front construction, the chord stiffness has been increased by more than 30% compared to DIABLO ROSSO™ III and the end count has been reduced, allowing more space for the compound to enter.
Grip and ride comfort benefit from it.
190 / 55ZR17 or larger rear tire
Pirelli engineers have developed a racing-like structure derived from their expertise in the Superbike World Championship.
DIABLO ROSSO™ IV features a 3-wire strand lyocell construction that translates into a significantly lower deformation rate than normal for a street tire.
The end result of this is excellent traction during full-throttle acceleration, regardless of lean angle.
■ Profile
DIABLOROSSO™IV features a race-oriented profile derived from that used in the Superbike World Championship.
The sharp contours of the multi-radius allow for immediate transition from lean to upright and quick change of direction, while the flat shoulders provide high grip and line hold while cornering.
Optimized sidewall stiffness provides sure traction for both upright acceleration and corner exit.
The balance of all front and rear contours allows for excellent control feel and neutral bike behavior.
■Compounds
Dual compound front tires are combined with a rear Cap&Base layout.
Dual compound for low to medium displacement motorcycles and tri-compound for superbikes and hyper-naked machines.
Front Tire
The high silica content and low Tg (glass transition point) of the hard layer provide excellent grip on cold and wet road surfaces.
Side soft layers (working at lean angles over 35 degrees) provide excellent grip and a great ground feel.
Combined, this allows the rider to correct the trajectory while cornering or to delay braking before entering lean.
Dual compound rear tire (up to 190/50 ZR 17)
The full silica dual compound rear provides quick warm-up, significant grip levels, and a smooth ride regardless of lean angle (even in wet conditions).
In relation to the dimensions of the tire, and therefore to the dimensions of the ground contact surface, the dual compound with few compound discontinuities guarantees the best stress distribution, ride comfort and wear uniformity.
Tricompound rear tire (190/55ZR17 or larger)
The five-zone layout with endurance racing compounds covers everything from wet grip to full-bank thrust, and handles the superior cornering speeds and tremendous engine power of modern performance motorcycles.
Soft full silica mid-rubber strips provide performance, while offering a safe and sporty ride in all weather conditions.
■Tread pattern design
As a distinctive sign of Pirelli's sporty products, the DIABLO ROSSO™ IV tread pattern has been developed around the FLASH™ icon.
These are two central grooves that guarantee directional stability and wear stability.
FLASH™ is responsible for draining water outward from the center of the ground surface when standing upright.
FLASH™ tails of varying lengths are placed around the central design, outlining the mid-lean groove.
The tail is a component of tire behavior, providing proper tire flexibility, efficient water drainage, and absolute wear uniformity.
The tread pattern design of the DIABLO ROSSO™ IV with smooth mid lean area is an evolution of the DIABLO ROSSO™ III and provides higher dry grip at lean angles (>35 degrees) with less need for drainage.
Large slick areas on the shoulders provide excellent grip and line hold while cornering at deep lean angles.
In addition to the feeling of being part of the DIABLO family, the tread pattern layout plays a relevant role in the performance of the DIABLO ROSSO™ IV.
